Professor, IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law

Professor Katharine Baker is a University Distinguished Professor of Law and an Associate Dean for Administration and Strategic Initiatives at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. Her work focuses on the intersection of women's intimate lives and the law. She is an expert in Family Law, especially the modern law of marriage and parenthood, and she has written extensively about rape and sexual assault, particularly on college campuses. Her current work problematizes the law’s ability to define family in an era when marriage has grown increasingly classed and parenthood is no longer grounded in marriage or genetics.
